12 Arrested in San Diego Illegal Gambling Raids

Two coordinated police raids in San Diego, California, have led to the arrest of 12 individuals and the seizure of illegal gambling machines, firearms, cash, and drugs, according to a statement released by the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).

The first raid occurred at a neighborhood market in Teralta East, where officers discovered nine gambling machines, a replica firearm, and nearly $500 in cash. Four individuals were arrested at the scene.

Less than 48 hours later, a second operation—conducted in partnership with SWAT, Vice, and the FBI Violent Crime Task Force—targeted a private residence on Fairmount Avenue. There, police seized 12 gambling machines, two handguns with ammunition, over $1,000 in cash, and narcotics. Eight people were arrested.

In total, 12 suspects face a range of drug and gambling-related charges.

The SDPD emphasized that illegal gambling dens often bring with them “drugs, violence, weapons, and constant disturbances for neighbors.” Authorities are urging residents to report suspicious activity by calling the department’s non-emergency line at 619-531-2000.
